Sermon Mode is a focused, full-screen note-taking view built for one hand and low light — so you can capture what you're hearing and find any verse in seconds, whether you're in church or watching online.
Start a session
1
Go to Write → Start sermon notes (or open Sermon Mode from the Library).
2
Give the session a title. Optionally paste a YouTube or SermonAudio link to follow along with the media in a split view.
3
A live timer runs at the top so your notes are stamped with the moment they were taken.
Take notes and anchor verses
- Type a note and choose its type: 💭 Thought, ⭐ Key Point, ❓ Question, ✅ Action Item, or 📖 Verse Note.
- As you type a reference, House-tops auto-detects it and shows a gold chip — tap it to anchor the verse.
- Tap a note to select it, then tap a verse to anchor that verse to the note.
- Use the 🎤 microphone button for hands-free voice-to-text.
📴 Works offline. Church wifi is unreliable, so every note saves to your
device first and syncs automatically when you're back online. You won't lose a word.
When the sermon ends
Close the session and choose what to do with your notes:
- Publish to the Rooftop as a post.
- Open for debate for structured discussion.
- Share with a Circle for private feedback.
- Keep private in your Sanctuary.
If you leave mid-sermon, a resume banner appears at the top of the app so you can jump right back in.
